Dear family,
Anxiety is a struggle many of us face. I know this all too well, as I have dealt with it since I was a young child. Life’s demands...juggling family, work, finances, and faith...can feel overwhelming, leaving us restless and uneasy...sometimes we can't even sleep!
In these moments, I have learned that our Catholic faith is a refuge, offering us beautiful and time-tested practices to help calm our hearts and minds.
If you’re battling anxiety, know that you are not alone. God sees your struggle, and He longs to carry your burdens.
Here are 10 Catholic practices that can help you turn your worries into trust:
1. Begin and End with Prayer
Start your day by offering everything to God, including your anxieties. A simple morning offering like, “Jesus, I trust in You” can set the tone for peace. At night, examine your day, thank God for His blessings, and surrender your worries to Him.
I also strongly recommend The Surrender Novena. It saved my sanity!
2. Pray the Rosary
The Rosary is a powerful weapon against anxiety. Meditating on the mysteries of Christ’s life allows us to enter into His peace and Mary’s loving intercession.
3. Find Solace in the Psalms
The Book of Psalms is filled with prayers for times of distress. Psalm 23 (“The Lord is my shepherd…”) and Psalm 91 (“He will cover you with His feathers…”) can be a great source of comfort.
4. Visit the Blessed Sacrament
Sit quietly before the Eucharist. Whether in Adoration or in an empty church, being in Christ’s real presence can bring deep calm. Let His peace fill your heart.
5. Offer Your Suffering for Others
Turn your anxiety into an act of love. Offer your struggles for someone in need. This transforms your suffering into something redemptive and purposeful.
6. Lean on Scripture
Memorize short verses that you can repeat when anxiety strikes. For example: “Do not be anxious about anything…but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6).
7. Practice the Jesus Prayer
The simple, repetitive prayer “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me” can quiet a restless mind. Pray it slowly and deliberately, allowing the words to bring you closer to God’s peace.
8. Embrace the Sacrament of Confession
Anxiety is often tied to guilt or unresolved emotions. Receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation can free your soul, allowing you to experience God’s mercy and healing.
9. Focus on the Present Moment
St. Thérèse of Lisieux lived by the “Little Way”—doing small things with great love, one moment at a time. When overwhelmed, focus only on the next small step and entrust the future to God.
10. Call on the Saints
Ask for the intercession of saints who struggled with anxiety, like St. Dymphna (patron saint of mental illness) or St. Padre Pio, who often reminded us to “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.”
Anxiety may not disappear overnight, but by turning to the richness of our Catholic faith, we can find real tools to soothe our hearts. Remember, God is always near, holding you in His love. Place your trust in Him, and little by little, His peace will settle over you.

---HELP IF YOU CAN----
Here is a post, from a recipient of what we do,.
L**** and I were one of the precipitants of This mission. She is right. My parking was 9 per day for 3 months. Then on top of that food cost me approximately 15 per day. That was cheap - I got vouchers for $5.00 per meal. So somedays I did not eat or made meals last for more then one meal. Had to. Parking was $810. Food was $1,300. Then you have normal household bills and I have 3 animals I had to pay to have people come and take care of them. At first I had my dog in the Kennel for 1/2 the time. That was about 500. It is VERY expensive to have a sick child. That was Just ONE hospital stay. We have had numerous ones. Some only a few days, some a week or two. Without their help we would of gone fully under!
From providing necessary funds to actually having families stay with us...we DO what we say we do!
