There’s an uncomfortable truth many people don’t want to face... pure, unadulterated evil exists in this world!
The evil of child abuse, abortion, and human trafficking is not just immoral... it is satanic.
This kind of darkness is the work of satan himself, drawing souls into the abyss.
Anyone who harms a child, anyone who takes advantage of the innocent and vulnerable, anyone who takes a human life in its most fragile state...they are tools of the devil!
There are no gray areas when it comes to protecting the innocent!
As Catholics, we must call it what it is...pure evil!
In the face of such evil, we are called to be warriors for Christ.
***We Must Have A Mind Full of Light***
If you were to look inside my mind, you would see images from Beatrix Potter’s gentle tales and Tasha Tudor’s beautifully illustrated books.
You would see holy images—Christ on the Cross, the Blessed Virgin holding the infant Jesus, and the saints who have gone before us.
My mind is a place where I choose to dwell on things that are wholesome, holy, and pure.
I feed my mind, body, and soul with the things that lift me up to God, that keep me focused on what is true and beautiful.
But if you were to peer into the mind of someone who has given themselves over to evil, what would you see?
Darkness. Pure darkness.
The grotesque, the perverted, the twisted workings of a soul that has embraced sin and rejected God’s light.
We are what we feed our minds.
For those who choose evil, there is no room for beauty or truth...only the suffocating grip of sin.
***There Are Few St. Paul's Among the Multitudes***
It’s not that these souls are beyond God’s reach...our faith teaches us that no one is too far gone for redemption.
After all, St. Paul himself was once a persecutor of Christians, an enemy of the early Church, before his dramatic conversion.
There may be one St. Paul among the multitudes of those lost in darkness... But let’s be honest, many do not want to be saved.
Jesus Christ, in His infinite mercy, offered His Blood for the forgiveness of sins, and during the consecration at Mass, we hear those powerful words: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of My Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for MANY for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of Me.”
Notice that Christ said “many,” not “all.”
While Christ’s sacrifice is sufficient to save all humanity, not everyone will accept this gift.
Some choose evil.
Some reject salvation.
They prefer the darkness because it is easier, because it feeds their sinful desires.
The free will God has given them allows them to turn away, even from the most beautiful gift of eternal life.
***Our Call to Be Vigilant***
We can't be blind to the evil in the world.
We cannot pretend it doesn’t exist.
Instead, we must be vigilant in guarding our hearts and minds against it.
We must speak out against abortion, child abuse, and human trafficking with the courage of our convictions.
We must fight for those who can't fight for themselves.
And most importantly, we must cling to the light of Christ, immersing ourselves in prayer, in the sacraments, and in holy things that will keep us close to God.
The world may be full of darkness, but we are called to be children of the light (Ephesians 5:8).
We can't let the evil in the world overwhelm us, but we must also not close our eyes to it.
***Choose the Light***
In a world where many choose the path of darkness, let us be the ones who choose the path of light.
Let us feed our souls with what is good and holy, so that we can shine Christ’s light into the darkest corners of this fallen world.
We are called to be saints, and it is only by holding fast to Christ that we can withstand the evil that surrounds us.
Evil may be real, but Christ has already won the victory.
It is up to each of us to choose whether we will embrace His saving grace or fall into the snares of the enemy.
Pray for the strength to persevere in goodness, even when the world seems overcome with darkness.
In the end, light will prevail.
Can I get an AMEN?
Regarding the picture...many of my boys are drawn to St. Michael, as you can see in the picture. St. Michael, ora pro nobis
